Breast Pain :
Breast pain is a common condition that is mostly seen in females, usually caused by hormonal changes and poor fitting bras. Types include cyclic breast pain and noncyclic breast pain. Cyclic breast pain usually occurs during the menstrual cycle and is seen mostly between 20 and 50 years old with symptoms like swollen, tender, and heavy breasts. Noncyclic breast pain is seen in individuals older than 40 and continues after menopause. It can be acute or chronic and tends to affect a specific area in one breast with a burning and stabbing sensation. Factors that influence noncyclic breast pain are birth control pills, pregnancy, mastitis, inflammation, hormone therapy, prior radiation therapy, antidepressant medications, breast cysts, fibroadenomas, costochondritis, surgical scars, trauma or injury, smoking, caffeine consumption, stress, breastfeeding and eating foods in high fat.
