ACL Repair :
The ACL is a thick and strong band of tissue that is present in the knee. The function of the ACL is to connect the thigh bone to the shin bone. The ACL can get injured or torn apart due to accidents, falls and overextension of the knee, among others. An injured or torn ACL can be treated by performing an ACL repair surgery.
The procedure begins by putting the patient to sleep using anaesthesia. Then, a slim device called an arthroscope is put inside the knee. The device has a camera at the tip, and it displays the footage it captures on a connected video monitor. The surgeon uses the footage to guide small surgical instruments in the knee and removes the damaged ACL.
