Urologists are specialized medical doctors who diagnose and treat conditions affecting the urinary tract and reproductive organs. To become a urologist, it is mandatory to complete graduation in MBBS, and pursue post graduation in MS/ DNB in General Surgery, followed by super specialization like M Ch/ DNB in Urology. A urologist commonly treats urologic conditions including urinary tract infections, trouble urinating (peeing), male-fertility, kidney stones, bed-wetting, blood in urine, difficulty getting and keeping an erection, any kind of stones, tumors, infections and trauma associated to ureters, urinary bladder, urethra, kidneys thus causing a difficulty in passing urine and pain in testicles and enlarged prostate gland. A urologist evaluates the patient's condition by taking medical history, conducting physical examination, tests like urine analysis (tests and samples) and imaging tests to formulate a treatment plan. The treatment plan provided by a urologist includes surgical treatments and removal of blockages that cause these obstructions.
