Goniotomy :
Goniotomy refers to a surgical procedure to improve fluid drainage from the eye and is a type of micro-invasive glaucoma surgery. It reduces the intraocular pressure, which is high in conditions like glaucoma, thus preventing permanent damage, vision loss, and even total blindness. Goniotomy is an effective, safe, and adjustable technique that is used to treat different types of goniotomy. Goniotomy is not suggested in the presence of conditions like angle-closure glaucoma, thyroid eye disease, increased bleeding risk and in people who have sharp pressure increases, like those people whose work involves heavy lifting. The potential risk of goniotomy are refractive errors like astigmatism, larger amounts of bleeding inside the eye, detachment of the retina, rebound pressure increases, cloudy vision like cataracts and low pressure inside the eye.
