Plantar fasciitis commonly called as heel pain is a disorder of the connective tissue at the base or arch of the foot characterised by inflammation of a thick band of tissue across the base of each foot that connects the heel bone to the toes, and this tissue is known as the plantar fascia. Plantar fasciitis is generally caused by a tear or tension of the tissue which may be due to age, certain type of exercises, obesity, a certain type of occupation, and foot machine etc. Plantar fasciitis is one of the common orthopedic complaint and is treated by both nonsurgical including medications, braces, icing etc, and surgical intervention(in chronic cases).
