Heart muscle is one of the most powerful muscles of the human body that constantly receives blood supply via blood vessels. In coronary artery disease, this supply channel that nourishes the heart is narrowed or blocked. In extreme cases of this, a coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) or open heart surgery is performed to improve heart health. There are two types of CABG procedures where one of them is a minimally invasive Off-Pump method. While the traditional methods involves forceful stopping of the heart in this technique surgery is performed on a beating heart. The circulating blood bypasses the narrowed or blocked vessel by rerouting to the new blood vessel graft attached. On-pump method involves connecting the heart to an external circulating machine while the operation is being done. Both of these techniques require highly skilled surgeons. The restored blood supply to the heart muscle eliminates the presenting symptoms post operatively.
