Blood In Stools :
Blood in the stools can also be known as rectal bleeding. Blood in the stools will be described as a symptom of many underlying diseases. There are some reason which will lead to blood in stools such as anal fissure (tearing of anal lining), hemorrhoids (swollen veins present in the anus), diverticulitis (small pouches in colon are inflamed), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), sexually transmitted diseases, infectious colitis, colon polyps (extra growths in colon), peptic ulcer disease, colorectal cancer, infections such as bacterial and parasitic infections which can also cause the bleeding in the digestive tract. The diagnosis of underlying disease can be identified through diagnostic tests such as anoscopy, digital rectal examination, sigmoidoscopy, proctoscopy, colonoscopy, stool test, rectal culture swab, and endoscopy. The management will be done to control blood in stools and is dependent on the cause. If it is due to hemorrhoids, it can be treated with medications, for severe cases, endoscopic procedures and surgery will be advised.
