Retinal Detachment :
Retinal detachment can be referred to as a condition that affects the eye, leading to the detachment of a layer of retinal tissue at the back of the eye. A detached retina can lead to vision problems and blindness. There are three different types of retinal detachment: rhegmatogenous, tractional, and exudative. The retinal detachment can occur due to injury to the eye, past eye surgery, aging, or a family history of retinal detachment. The symptoms that are noticed due to retinal detachment include vision of flashing lights, seeing floaters, darkening of side vision, and darkening of vision. Retinal detachment can be detected with eye examination and tests like fundus imaging, ultrasound of the eye, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and a CT scan. The treatment for retinal detachment involves pneumatic retinopexy, vitrectomy, laser therapy, and scleral buckle. Complications of retinal detachment treatment include bleeding, infection, cataract formation, and increased intraocular pressure.
