Rectal Cancer :
Rectal cancer can be described as a disease condition affecting the rectum caused by the abnormal growth of cancer cells. Rectal cancer will begin as polyps known as adenomas, and then they will change into a cancerous tumor in a time gap of 10-15 years. The symptoms that are seen when there is rectal cancer include constipation, narrow stools, diarrhea, tiredness, unexplained weight loss, bleeding through the rectum, weakness, and abdominal pain. The diagnosis of rectal cancer can be done through diagnostic tests such as blood tests such as CT scan, tumor marker tests, complete blood count, liver enzyme test, MRI scan, ultrasound scan of the pelvis, and colonoscopy. The treatment of rectal cancer can be done by using surgical treatments, which include abdominoperineal resection (APR), transanal endoscopic microsurgery, and resection of the lower anterior region. Then the rectal cancer can be treated with the help of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy. The risk factors which increase the occurrence of rectal cancer include family history, consumption of alcohol, smoking, diabetes, low vegetable diet, obesity, and no exercise.
