Insulin pumps can be described as medical devices that are wearable to supply insulin to the body continuously. These insulin pumps will be computerized devices that are used to be placed underneath the skin. They can be used as an alternative to the daily insulin injections for individuals who have diabetes. There are two major types of insulin pumps such as tubed insulin pumps and tubeless insulin pumps. The insulin pumps can be used in the case of type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and type 3c diabetes, when finding it is difficult to manage with medications, when there is a need of small doses of insulin to the body, in gastroparesis, when preparing for pregnancy, and when having unpredictable food habits. The disadvantages of using insulin pumps can be bent cannulas, adhesive issues, hematoma formation, failed pump, and insulin crystallization. There are other disadvantages of insulin pumps, such as blindness, low vision, and problems with the pump staying attached.
