Corneal Ulcer :
A corneal ulcer can be referred to as a sore that is seen in the corneal tissue of the eye. Generally, corneal ulcers occur due to infections in the eyes. These corneal ulcers should be treated to avoid low vision and also cause permanent damage to the eye. The corneal ulcer can occur due to infectious and non-infectious causes. The symptoms that can be seen in a corneal ulcer will be watering of eyes, red eye, sensitivity to light, blurred vision, swollen eyelids, eye pain, a feeling of an object in the eye, and a gray or white spot on the cornea. The diagnosis of a corneal ulcer can be made with tests like slit lamp examination, routine eye examination, and corneal biopsy. The treatment for a corneal ulcer can be medications, bandage contact lenses, or tarsorrhaphy. Surgery will be indicated if the ulcer doesn't heal for a prolonged duration. The complications seen in the case of corneal ulcer can be cataracts, glaucoma, astigmatism, vision loss, and endophthalmitis.
