Squint :
Squint is when one eye looks in a direction and the other eye appears to be turned to another way. Squint may be corrected with glasses in some cases. However, a strabismus surgery may be required if the squint is obvious and is causing blurry vision. Squint in the majority of cases is due to imbalance in the muscles surrounding the eye. When the problem muscle is identified with necessary tests a squint surgery is performed. For this local anesthetic is given to reduce the action of the muscles. If the squint is causing the eyes to look outward, the muscle causing this is tight and incision can be placed to relax it so that the eyeball re centers. If the eyeball is pointed inwards, it can be due to over relaxation of the muscle which can be tightened with stitches. This surgery can be performed on both adults and children.
