Tuberculosis :
Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It can spread through the air and infect the lungs and other parts of the body. Symptoms include persistent cough, chest pain, coughing up with blood, weakness, loss of appetite, weight loss, chills, fever, and night sweats. Diagnosis is made by lab tests, chest X-ray, and CT scans. The three stages of Tuberculosis are primary infection, latent infection, and active TB disease. TB infection is treated with drugs like isoniazid, rifampin, ethambutol, pyrazinamide, and rifapentine. Complications of the medicines can be skin rashes and reactions, nausea, stomach upset, itchy skin, jaundice, and dark urine. It can be prevented by washing hands frequently, covering mouth when coughing, avoiding close contact with people, taking all medication correctly, and not returning to work until infection is cleared.
