Angioplasty / Balloon Angioplasty :
The term angioplasty means clearing the blocked blood vessels or narrowed arteries and opening them using a balloon, so it is also called balloon angioplasty. After that, a stent is placed in the blood vessel so as not to get blocked again. Angioplasty is done when you have coronary artery disease, in which arteries in the heart become narrow or blocked, which causes a heart attack or congestive heart failure, also in the condition called atherosclerosis, in which plaque is built up in the lining of the artery making the wall of the arteries thickened and lose its elasticity. Angioplasty is done by using a balloon through a blood vessel by making a small opening with a catheter (thin tube), then injecting contrast dye through the blood vessel into the heart, the balloon at the end of the tube inflates and pushes the plaque against to artery wall, so that artery becomes wider and blood flows easily. Then, they will put a small mesh or stent to keep the artery open improve blood flow.
