Interventional Cardiologist :
Interventional cardiologists are medical doctors who are extensively trained to treat heart diseases using minimally invasive catheter-based techniques. The educational background required to become an interventional cardiologist is five years of medical school, along with an internship and three years of post-graduation in cardiology, followed by a fellowship in cardiology subspecialty. They treat conditions like heart valve disease, cardiac catheterization, chest pain, coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, heart failure, heart attack, cardiomyopathy, congenital heart conditions, and abnormal heart rhythms. Tests that are done are CT of coronary arteries, intra-cardiac echocardiogram, heart MRI, and chest X-ray. Benefits include less pain and scarring, faster recovery, decreased risk of heart attack, and less cost, which is ideal for infants and children.
