Diabetologist :
A diabetologist is a doctor who diagnoses and manages the condition called diabetes which is associated with increased blood sugar levels and its complications. To become diabetologist, it is mandatory to pursue five and half years of graduation from a reputed medical college, followed by post graduation in endocrinology or doing a fellowship in diabetology. A diabetologist treats all types of diabetes mellitus, such as type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, gestational diabetes, latent autoimmune diabetes (LADA), maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY), and type 3c diabetes. The complications of diabetes like diabetic retinopathy, diabetic neuropathy, and diabetic nephropathy, are also managed by a diabetologist. The symptoms that a diabetologist looks for diabetes are increased thirst known as polydipsia, dry mouth, slow-healing of ulcers, blurred vision, fatigue, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, tingling sensation or numbness in hands or feet, and frequent vaginal or skin yeast infections.
