Urologist :
A urologist is a qualified medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract diseases and conditions in both female as well as male and also deals with reproductive system disorders. The common diseases treated by urologist are kidney stones, infections of the urinary tracts, bladder dysfunctions, prostate hyperplasia or enlargement, male infertility, and kidney, erectile dysfunction, bladder, or prostate cancers. They also treat issues regarding urine incontinence and erectile dysfunction. A urologist first completes their MBBS degree, followed by a degree of MS in General Surgery and then further specialized with a degree of MCh or an equivalent degree like DNB in Urology. A urologist conducts physical examinations, basic blood investigations, urine tests, and imaging studies like ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI and uroflowmetry for a better diagnosis. Depending upon the diagnosis treatment options may include oral medications, and may also suggest minimally invasive procedures which can be done robotically or laparoscopically or even a major surgery like prostatectomy.
