Stretch Marks :
Stretch marks are sunken, discolored, scar like lines in the skin which appear when the skin rapidly shrinks or stretches. These stretch marks usually develop in the abdominal region, thighs, lower back, upper arms, hips, buttocks and breasts. Stretch marks are a condition seen in people who are experiencing a growth spurt during adolescence, who have suddenly lost a lot of weight or gained, pregnant women, suffering with medical conditions like Cushing syndrome or Marfan syndrome, those who have been taking prednisone for a long time, those with a similar family history, and with muscles getting bigger quickly through weightlifting or bodybuilding. Stretch marks cause irritation and itchiness, appear streaked in silver or white, making the skin glossy. The management of these stretch marks involves various methods like using retinol creams and cosmetic procedures like micro needling, laser skin resurfacing and dermabrasion.
