Lupus :
Lupus is an autoimmune condition that causes inflammation and damages tissue of the skin, blood, joints, kidneys, brain, heart, and lungs. Symptoms include joint pain, muscle pain, chest pain, swollen glands, rashes, headaches, fever, mouth sores, hair loss, shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling in arms, legs, and face, confusion, and clotting of blood. It can also cause health conditions like photosensitivity, dry eye, depression, seizures, anemia, Raynaud's syndrome, osteoporosis, heart disease, and kidney disease. Types of lupus are cutaneous lupus erythematosus, drug-induced lupus erythematosus, and neonatal lupus. Factors that influence the risk of lupus are genetic factors, hormones, environmental factors, stress, and smoking. Diagnosis can be made by blood tests, urinalysis, ANA (antinuclear antibody) test, and biopsy. It can be prevented by avoiding sun exposure, staying active, and getting enough sleep.
