Kidney Function Test :
Kidney function test (KFT) is a set of blood and urine tests that help determine how well the kidneys work. Basically, they help in filtering waste products from the blood, regulate electrolyte balance, and maintain fluid homeostasis. The common tests are the serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). In addition to blood tests urine tests are done during diagnosis for protein, glucose, or blood to check within urine, meaning that such presentations may indicate kidney damage or disease.
A 24-hour urine collection would then be used to assess how well the kidneys excrete their waste. Such tests, including chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, or hypertension-related kidney damage, have also been very significant in the diagnosis and monitoring. Such abnormal results could further lead to research or even forms of treatment, including lifestyle changes, medication, or dialysis for severe outcomes. The persons with predisposing conditions, like diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of kidney disease, are then made to follow through with regular monitoring.
