Growth Problems :
Growth problems refer to the many possible insufficiencies in a child's growth. A child with growth problems may be shorter in height than other children of the same age. Such a growth problem may be present since birth or may become apparent during puberty. Growth problems are most commonly diagnosed during the teenage years and tend to be due to delays in growth. Slow development of physical, social and mental skills also falls under the umbrella of growth problems.
A paediatrician can determine the underlying cause of growth problems with tests like blood tests, an MRI scan, and X-rays. The treatment of the growth problem depends on the underlying cause. Treatment may involve improving the diet, medications and growth hormone therapy. Growth hormone therapy usually involves injections that are given daily or weekly.
