Genital Sores :
Genital sores refer to painful or unsightly lesions appearing on or around the genital area. Sometimes, the causes of sores around the genitalia may be quite varied and an infection from sexually transmitted diseases is the most probable source. The primary culprit is the herpes simplex virus, resulting in numerous small fluid-filled blisters that ultimately break open and appear as ulcers. Another infection is syphilis which usually causes a painless sores in its primary stages. Non-sexually transmitted causes include allergic reactions, psoriasis among others, and trauma to the genitals.
Genital sores are further characterized by pain or burning, itching or soreness, and trouble urinating. Based on the cause of the disease, there is various treatment, like antiviral drugs for herpes, antibiotics when it is caused by bacterial infections, such as syphilis, and creams for irritation of the skin. Practicing good hygiene, avoiding unsafe sex practices, and refraining from irritants prevent the recurrence of genital sores, and hence one can feel comforted and more likely to continue feeling generally well.
