Breast Implant :
A breast implant is a medical device placed under the breast tissue or chest muscle to enhance or restore breast shape and size. Breast implants are selected for cosmetic reasons, like enhancing breast volume or creating better symmetry, or reconstructive purposes mostly after breast cancer surgery. There are two main types of implants which are silicone and saline. The silicone implant is similar to tissue in gel form, while the saltwater-filled, liquid-based saline implants are usually firmer. Access to the implants can be achieved through a small cut and the type of location could determine how it turns out and what it may look or feel like.
Post operatively patient might develop soreness and swelling for which they may be advised rest for few weeks and also medication would be prescribed for pain control . Periodic follow-ups are necessary as time progresses to ensure the implants are not harmed. Some complications during post operative period include leakage and scarring of the implant .
