Breast Abscess :
A breast abscess refers to the collection of pus in the breast region due to active infection. Breast abscess is most commonly seen in lactating females and causes pain. Bacteria are the major factor causing infection in lactating women. The common symptoms of breast abscess are pain in the region, redness, an increase in temperature of the skin around the affected area, along with discharge from another part of the breast, fever with chills, fatigue, and swelling. Breast abscess is treated by various methods such as incision, draining the abscess via a needle, and prescribing antibiotics. The patient has to consult a doctor after the treatment if they present with complaints such as swelling, high fever, redness, and pus discharge from the treatment site, these are signs of a new infection. If left untreated, a breast abscess can lead to a life-threatening complication that occurs due to the spread of infection throughout the body, which is called sepsis.
