Autism or Autism spectrum disorder(ASD) is a cluster of conditions that includes abilities like communication, learning, and problems in identifying human emotions in daily life. There is also disturbance in sensory stimulation, such as surrounding environment, sounds, clothes, temperature, etc. These diseases range from mild to severe based on DSM V Criteria. Common symptoms include lack of eye contact, repeated actions, and not wanting to be touched. Anxiety and trouble understanding others are some of the common symptoms seen in adults with ASD. There are not enough studies to support how autism develops, which could be genetic factors. There is no specific treatment, but supporting the patient could improve life; interventions and psychoeducational groups help in enhancing cognitive functions. Complementary treatments such as Art, music, and interacting with pets help boost communication skills. Applied behavior analysis(ABA) helps in positive behavior and discourages negative behavior.
