Doctors for allergic rhinitis treatment can be addressed by an ENT specialist/Otorhinolaryngologist/Rhinologist. They are doctors with MBBS and MS in Otorhinolaryngology. Allergic rhinitis is an inflammatory condition related to the mucosal membrane of nose and underlying sinuses. It is also called as Hay fever or Seasonal allergies. It usually characterized by a group of symptoms such as runny nose, watery eyes, swelling of nasal passages, cough, sneezing, limited sense of smell, sore throat, sinus pressure, ear popping sounds and itchy eyes, throat, nose and skin. The ENT doctors may take complete medical and physical examination and conduct radioallergosorbent test (RAST)/allergy tests to rule out the allergen responsible for allergic rhinitis. They prescribe nasal steroid sprays, decongestants, antihistamines and allergy injections to control the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. They also recommend necessary precautions to avoid any flare-ups during seasonal variations. Some may refer the patient to an Allergy Specialist/Immunologist for further evaluation.
