Phimosis :
Phimosis is medical condition in which the foreskin of the penis becomes tight or scarred such that it cannot be retracted over the glans. Phimosis can be physiological (occur naturally) in infants and young adults which gradually loosens and can be retracted as an adult. In pathological phimosis an adult develops difficulty to retract the foreskin which causes pain during erection and sexual intercourse due to conditions like balanitis, balanoposthitis , poor hygiene, STI's like genital herpes, old age, certain skin conditions etc,. leading to scarring and inflammation. Management is by diagnosing the cause and treating it, which includes maintaining proper hygiene, topical corticosteroid creams, antibiotics for bacterial infection and circumcision is done if conservative methods are not helpful.
