Meningitis :
Meningitis can be described as the inflammation of the brain, spinal cord, and its surrounding parts. Meningitis is also called spinal meningitis. There are several types of meningitis, such as viral meningitis, bacterial meningitis, parasitic meningitis, fungal meningitis, drug-induced meningitis, acute meningitis, chronic meningitis, and primary amebic meningitis. The symptoms that can be observed in case of meningitis includes nausea or vomiting, stiffness of neck, low energy, sensitivity to light, loss of appetite, confusion, small spots called petechiae on the skin. The meningitis can be diagnosed through lumbar puncture or spinal tap, nasal swab or throat swab, blood tests, stool sample tests, MRI scan, CT scan. The management of meningitis can be done with medications such as antifungals, antibiotics, antivirals, IV fluids, corticosteroids, and pain relievers. This meningitis can also lead to long term effects such as epilepsy, vision loss, movement issues, arthritis, loss of fingers, memory problems, and organ damage.
