Cervical Cancer is the cancer of the cervix. Cervix is a part of the female reproductive anatomy. This is the last portion of the uterus that connects to the vaginal canal. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the causative organism for Cervical Cancer. HPV is regarded as a sexually transmitted infection (STI). HPV is common in occurrence and in most cases does not cause any symptoms.
However, in some individuals it leads to Cervical Cancer. The best way to avoid Cervical Cancer is to get regular cervical screening. This can be done via PAP smear tests. Vaginal bleeding and pain are some symptoms of cervical cancer. However these symptoms are non specific and only occur at advanced stages of cancer. Vaccination against HPV is a novel way to avoid getting Cervical Cancer.
