Drug Allergy Specialist :
A drug allergy specialist is a specialized medical doctor who undergoes additional training to treat hypersensitive reactions of the body to a specific drug. To certify as a drug allergy specialist, one should complete their five and a half years of graduation degree and obtain a bachelor's degree in MBBS, pursue post graduation like MD/ DNB in relevant fields like General Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Dermatology and Pediatrics, followed by an additional super specialization degree of Fellowship in Allergy and Immunology. A drug allergy specialist evaluates the signs and symptoms presented and conducts various investigations like skin tests and blood tests to identify the problem. After evaluating the condition, these specialists work by withdrawing the allergy causing drug and recommend medications accordingly. The presenting complaints addressed by a drug allergy specialist are hives, skin rash, bleeding, itching of the eyes and skin, rapid pulse, diarrhea and dizziness after taking a drug.
