Ptosis :
Ptosis can be described as a condition in which the eyelids drop. Ptosis can occur due to the abnormal function of the levator muscle, which is used for the lifting of the eyelid. There are two different types of ptosis: congenital ptosis and acquired ptosis. The symptoms that are seen in ptosis will be increased tears, tiredness around the eyes, excess rubbing of the eyes, and impaired vision. The conditions that can cause ptosis will be stroke, Horner syndrome, stye, tumor, myasthenia gravis, and external ophthalmoplegia. If ptosis is not treated on time, it will cause astigmatism, chin-up position, and amblyopia. The diagnosis of ptosis will be made through physical examination and eye examination. And other tests will be visual field testing, slit lamp examination, Tensilon test, and ocular motility test. If the ptosis is not affecting the vision, there is no treatment required, and for age-related ptosis, surgical treatment is suggested.
