Knee Pain :
Knee pain is described as discomfort experienced around or near the knee joint. The potential causes of knee pain include knee arthritis, overuse of knees causing repetitive strain injuries, injuries like hyperextensions, sprains and meniscus tears. Based on the location of pain, the factors causing knee pain vary. Knee pain in the front of the knee occurs due to bursitis, arthritis or patellofemoral pain syndrome. Knee pain behind the knee occurs because of arthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, over tight leg muscles and baker's cysts. If there is pain on the inside edge of the knee, it occurs due to MCL tears and knee pain on the outside edge of the knee occurs due to LCL tears, iliotibial band syndrome, arthritis and meniscus injuries. The treatment modalities to manage knee pain include RICE or MEAT methods, medication to relieve pain, physical therapy, wearing a knee brace and knee surgery, in severe cases.
