Head Ache :
Head ache is one of the most common neurological symptoms. The nature, intensity, location and duration of the headaches are highly variable. Based on these criteria, headaches are further divided as primary headaches and secondary headaches. If the headaches are confined to neurological aspect then they are considered as primary type such as tension, migraines and cluster headaches. Some of the common reasons for manifestation of secondary type of headaches are life style modifications such as increased alcohol/nicotine use, poor sleeping and dietary habits, and lack of coping skills for stress management. Management of the headaches depends on the severity, which includes over-the-counter NSAIDs/pain killers, biofeedback mechanisms and treatment of underlying secondary disease conditions. Certain types of headache can be indicative of serious underlying medical conditions which require thorough investigations by a qualified neurologist.
