Burns :
Burns are described as a type of injury and tissue damage to the skin that occurs due to various factors such as heat and chemicals. Burns are categorized into various types such as thermal burns, electrical burns, friction burns, radiation burns and chemical burns. Based on the extent of damage to the skin, burns are classified into three degrees such as, superficial or first degree burns, partial thickness or second degree burns and full thickness or third degree burns. The symptoms of burns are pain, texture changes to blistering or leathery and stiff and color changes to red skin or ashen and gray. The factors responsible for causing burns are touching something too hot like hot stove, contact with very hot air like an open flame or an electric hair dryer, contact with chemicals like those in construction supplies and cleaning products, receiving radiation therapy and contact with boiling water and liquid nitrogen.
