Breast Pain :
Breast pain is a mild, sore, throbbing, or stabbing kind of pain observed in the breast region and is also termed as mastalgia. Breast pain is classified into two types, namely, cyclic breast pain and noncyclic breast pain. Cycling breast pain is induced during the menstrual cycle, due to hormonal changes in women in the 20 to 50 years of age group. In females above forty years, noncyclic breast pain is observed and occurs mainly because of breast size or a benign breast condition, hormone therapy and birth control medications, injury, inflammation, surgical scars, breastfeeding and infections like mastitis. The symptoms of cycling breast pain are heavy, swollen and tender or sore breasts while the presenting complaints of non cycling breast pain are sharp pain in one specific area of only one breast with burning and stabbing sensations.
