Craniofacial Surgeon :
A craniofacial surgeon is a specialized medical doctor and a surgeon who treats congenital and acquired deformities of the head, neck, and face. To become a craniofacial surgeon, one should obtain a bachelor's degree in MBBS, followed by post graduation in General Surgery, an additional super specialization degree (M Ch) in Plastic Surgery, and then pursue a sub specialization degree in Craniofacial Surgery. A craniofacial surgeon treats common conditions such as clefts of craniofacial skeleton, cleft lip and cleft palate, facial fractures, correction of craniosynostosis (fusion of the sutures between the bones of skull), micrognathia, Crouzon's syndrome, Apert's syndrome, Treacher Collins syndrome, other congenital ear anomalies and craniofacial microsomia (a part of face smaller than usual), microtia (little ear). A craniofacial surgeon works together with a multidisciplinary team of neurosurgeons and other experts to provide comprehensive care to the patients.
