Neurologist :
A neurologist is a highly educated doctor who can diagnose, manage and treat nervous system problems. An MBBS graduate becomes a neurologist after spending many years studying the structure and function of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. An MBBS doctor must earn a super-specialization degree such as DM in Neurology or its equivalent to become a neurologist.
Some conditions that neurologists can treat include brain injury, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, spinal cord injury and lateral sclerosis. Neurologists can also treat epilepsy, encephalitis, vascular malformations, facial pain, meningitis and Parkinson's disease. An individual suffering from memory loss, sleep disturbances, seizures, shock-like pains and fainting should be taken to a neurologist. Neurologists usually treat their patients with medicines. In some cases, they may refer a patient to a neurosurgeon who can treat them by performing a procedure.
