Coronary Angioplasty :
Coronary angioplasty is the coronary procedure performed to dissolve the blood clot in the coronary arteries of the heart. It is performed with help of deflated balloon at the end of the catheter. After the patient is sedated in cardiac catheterization lab, small incision is made in leg (peripheral approach) or wrist (radial approach) to gain access into the artery. Post that, coronary angiograms were obtained to determine the blocked arteries, then deflated balloon is guided to that area and inflated with contrasting fluid which will open and widen the blood vessel. Additionally, a placement of stent or mesh coil around the deflated balloon can be used to keep the blood vessels open and intact.
