Lupus :
Lupus refers to an autoimmune condition resulting in inflammation in the body. Lupus is categorized into several types, such as drug- induced lupus, cutaneous lupus erythematosus, and neonatal lupus. The significant signs of lupus are muscle pain, joint pain, headaches, chest pain, rashes, fever, hair loss, mouth sores, confusion, fatigue, swelling in the arms, legs, or face, shortness of breath, blood clots, and swollen glands. The complications of lupus, if left untreated, include photo-sensitivity, dry eye, seizures, depression, anemia, Raynaud's syndrome, osteoporosis, kidney disease, and heart disease. The risk factors of lupus are high in women between the ages of fifteen and forty-four. The causative factors of lupus include genetic factors such as hormonal reactions, environmental triggers, mutations, stress, and smoking. To evaluate this condition further, investigations such as blood tests, antinuclear antibody (ANA) test, urinalysis, and biopsy are conducted. The management of lupus involves using medications to reduce the symptomatic effects and also to prevent flare-ups.
