Lumbar Spondylosis :

Lumbar spondylosis is a condition in which the lumbar vertebrae and the discs of the spine ie,. vertebrae of the lower back undergo degeneration causing various symptoms often due to wear and tear by old age seen in elderly patients. The risk factors for the lumbar spondylosis include aging, obesity, poor posture, sedentary lifestyle, repetitive strain and overuse, trauma , injury, diabetes, etc. The common symptoms are lower back pain, limited mobility, pain increasing with walking and physical activity and reducing after taking rest in lying down position. The degeneration of the vertebrae may lead to compression of the spinal nerves causing numbness, weakness in the legs, bladder and bowel problems. Management of the LS depends on the severity of the disease from conservative treatment like rest , medications for pain management or surgical intervention if necessary.
