Cesarean Section :
Cesarean section, or C-section, refers to a surgical way of delivering a baby. This method is chosen when vaginal delivery is not considered safe for the pregnant woman. Cesarean section is recommended to manage conditions like cephalopelvic disproportion (CPD), previous C- section, expecting multiples, placenta previa, transverse lie, breech presentation, obstruction due to a uterine fibroid or a pelvic fracture and when the baby is expected to be born with congenital anomalies. C- section is decided immediately and is unplanned if the labor is not progressing, or in conditions like placental abruption, fetal distress, umbilical cord compression and umbilical cord prolapse. Cesarean section involves making an incision through the skin, into the wall of the abdomen and then removing the baby through these incisions. When compared to vaginal birth, cesarean section is considered the safest option, if there are any risks, and minimizes those risks. Chronic pelvic pain, difficult recovery, and trouble breastfeeding are the complications of a cesarean section.
