Breast Lump :

Breast Lump can be called as a small swelling in the breast tissue of both men and women. Most of these lumps occur for a temporary period of time and are usually non cancerous. Teenage boys may have one of these breast lumps as the body undergoes changes due to hormonal fluctuations. They may also be formed in pre pubescent girls before the formation of breast tissue. In older women, fibroadenomas or cysts can occur with hormonal changes and are not a cause for concern when they appear before period.

Fibroadenomas feel rubbery on touch and are not painful. They can be moved and the base is not fixed. These are common in the twenties and thirties. Fibroadenomas are non cancerous and do not turn malignant in most cases. A needle biopsy or Lumpectomy would be required to get accurate diagnosis. On the other hand cysts are fluid filled and feel soft to touch. It is important to get a physical examination by a gynecologist if there are any changes in the breast tissue to rule of breast cancer and malignancy.
