One common condition that can cause blood in urine is Urinary tract infections. This UTI can result in burning sensation while passing urine. This can also indicate a kidney related illness or kidney disease such as glomerulonephritis. One other condition which often results in red colored urine formation is the presence of kidney stones. Even in enlarged prostate, the person is prone to getting frequent infections like prostatitis. This can sometimes lead to blood or clot formation typically at the end of urinary stream.
However in most of these cases, the blood is in minute amounts and if excessive blood is seen clearly, it can mean advanced stage kidney disease or kidney cancer.
