Vertigo is referred to a condition when an individual has a sensation of movement or of surrounding objects moving when they are not often described as dizziness. Along with swaying and swinging movements individuals also complain of nausea and vomiting.
Typically there are two types of vertigo, namely central and peripheral. Peripheral vertigo being the most common one, occurs as result of problems in the inner ear that controls balance, while central vertigo occurs as a result of problem in brain caused due to conditions such as seizures, stroke, multiple sclerosis, certain drugs, blood vessel disorders and others. Treatment primarily focus on addressing the cause of the condition involving medications and physical therapy.
