Mouth ulcers are mostly benign and minute sores of varying colors such as yellow, white and red, present on the surface of mouth components. The occurrence of the mouth ulcers can be spontaneous and evident in cases of emotional stress overload, traumatic injury or cheek bites, allergic reaction to braces or cavity filling, hormonal imbalances and over intake of citrus fruits.
It can be of several types such as canker sores, oral lichen planus and leukoplakia. These mouth sores are diagnosed by clinical presentation, occasionally after evaluation of blood tests. These ulcers subside eventually with home remedies, but medications such as antiseptics, other steroid ointments and immunosuppresants may be deemed beneficial.
