A paediatrician is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating the health conditions of infants, children, and adults. The educational background to become a paediatrician is four years of a medical degree, one year of internship, and three years of post-graduation in paediatrics. Types of paediatricians are adolescent medicine specialists, critical care paediatricians, developmental-behavioral pediatricians, child abuse pediatricians, pediatric oncologists, paediatric cardiologists, pediatric pulmonologists, pediatric nephrologists, pediatric neurologists, neonatal-perinatal pediatricians, pediatric gastroenterologists, and pediatric endocrinologists. Paediatrician performs regular health and wellness checkups, conduct physical exams, track the physical, emotional, and social development of a child, diagnose and treat illnesses, give vaccines, prescribe medications, and provide health advice to parents.
