Meningitis :
Meningitis is an inflammation of the meninges surrounding the brain and spinal cord that protects the structure from injury. It is caused by bacteria and viruses like streptococcus pneumonia, E. Coli, Neisseria meningitides, Haemophilus influenza, and noninfectious conditions due to systemic lupus erythematosus, NSAIDs, head injuries, and brain surgery. Types of meningitis include viral, fungal, parasitic, primary amebic meningitis, drug induced aseptic meningitis, and acute and chronic meningitis. Symptoms include neck stiffness, nausea, photophobia, confusion, lack of energy, lack of appetite, petechiae, hallucinations, loss of balance, lack of focus, poor eating, sleepiness, and lower energy. Diagnosis can be made by nasal swabs, lumbar puncture, blood tests, and stool samples.
