Knee Pain :
Knee pain is a common pain that causes discomfort around the knee joint. It is caused by excessive physical activities, exercises, playing sports, tendinitis, bursitis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, post-traumatic arthritis, sports injuries, repetitive strain injuries, trauma like falls, and car accidents. Common injuries that cause knee pain include knee sprains, hyperextended knees, knee ligament tears, meniscus tears, bone fractures, and dislocations. Knee pain is commonly treated with the RICE method- Rest, applying an Ice pack for 15 to 20 minutes, and compression helps in reducing the swelling by reducing the blood flow and keeping the knee Elevated above the level of the heart. It is also managed by medication like NSAIDs, knee braces, physical therapy, knee surgery, knee arthroscopy, and arthroplasty based on the severity of the knee problem. It can be prevented by wearing protective equipment during sports, resting after intense activity, and doing stretches and warm-ups before working out.
