Bell's palsy :
Bell's palsy is a condition of facial muscle paralysis that occurs only on one side of the face. Signs are one-sided paralysis, aphasia, loss of muscle control on one side of the face, partial or total loss of senses like vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, blurred vision, ataxia, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, neck stiffness, emotional instability, personality changes, seizures, memory loss, and headaches. Symptoms include drooping of the face on one side, drooling, dry eyes, difficulty speaking, eating and drinking, ear pain, headache, loss of taste, tinnitus, and hyperacusis. It may be caused by herpes simplex 1, chicken pox, shingles, epstein barr virus, covid 19, stress, illness, sleep deprivation, physical trauma, and autoimmune conditions. Risk factors include diabetes, pregnancy, preeclampsia, obesity, and high blood pressure. Diagnosis is made by blood tests, electromyography, lumbar puncture, and MRI.
