Eye Specialist :

An Eye Specialist is medically termed as an ophthalmologist who addresses eye diseases and vision related disorders. An annual vision examination by an eye specialist is highly recommended by a pediatrician to detect any early changes in vision and eye problems. An eye specialist has commendable academic qualifications of MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), and MD / MS (Master of Surgery) in Ophthalmology. Some of the conditions they commonly treat include refractive vision changes, cataract, glaucoma, infections of eye, diabetic retinopathy, and other congenital eye disorders. Few investigatory tests such as exam vision acuity exam, refraction and cover tests, slit lamp bio-microscopy and retinoscopy are conducted to evaluate the underlying conditions. Radiographic imaging studies of face and skull can also reveal any skeletal or tissue changes of the eyes. They are also surgical adept to perform procedures of LASIK, blepharoplasty, retinal detachment and cataract surgeries. A regular follow-up appointment with an eye specialist is mandatory to monitor for any complications postoperatively.
